If you followed Game Design Twitter around 2010, its likely that you saw a satirical blog post I did on applying modern design trends to Super Mario Bros. It became the top article on Digg (back when that was a thing) and was the top third-party article on Kotaku for the year. Then the content mills like Buzzfeed and 9gag stole it and removed the attribution like they do. It had over two million visits from my blog and the Kotaku reprint and unknown numbers from all the other places.
In what was one of the most surreal moments of my professional life, I received a bunch of simultaneous Facebook/text/Twitter messages when Mark Zuckerberg used it in his 2011 F8 Conference Keynote along the topic of what was wrong with Facebook games. Of course I wasn’t attributed but no hard feelings, Mark.
