I always laughed at racing games like Project Gotham which tried to increase the environmental immersion by adding birds that just take off from the ground when you drive near. They’d always repeat the effect like thirty times a lap and I thought it was a bit ridiculous, that it was an example of abandoning restraint.
Well I recently found this quite excellent link of the short film Rendezvous juxtaposed with the Google Maps details of the locations traveled in the film. Around the 6.5 minute mark, the guy keeps running into flocks of birds standing in the road. He spooks at least five the last minute and a half. So my wrong on that one. Sorry racing games.
